چکیده

We present 0.1–10 keV observations of HerX-1 obtained with the Low-Energy Spectrometer Concentrator instrument onboard the BeppoSAX satellite during the main on-state of the 35 day cycle. We confirm the existence of an intense 0.093 keV blackbody component and a broad emission feature at 0.94 keV. The pulse phase dependence of these components is similar, suggesting a common origin. This is most likely fluorescent excitation of moderately ionized (ξ ∼10–100) material located at the inner edge of the accretion disk.

A BeppoSAX observation of the coronal X-ray emission of the active binary VY Ari

We present a study of the X-ray coronal emission from the active binary VY Ari, using data from both the Low Energy Concentrator Spectrometer (LECS) and the Medium Energy Concentrator Spectrometer (MECS) instruments onboard the X-ray satellite BeppoSAX. Using these instruments, the X-ray spectrum of VY Ari can be studied across two full decades of energy, from 0.1 to 10 keV. The spectrum is wel...

Letter to the Editor BeppoSAX LECS/MECS X-ray spectroscopy of the young supernova remnant N132D

We have analyzed an observation of the supernova remnant N132D in the Large Magellanic Cloud, performed with the Low Energy Concentrator Spectrometer (LECS) and theMediumEnergyConcentrator Spectrometer (MECS) instruments on board the X-ray satellite BeppoSAX. Thanks to the good sensitivity of the LECS/MECScombination over the range 0.3–8.5 keVwewere able to detect the presence of an additional ...

BeppoSAX Observations of 2-Jy Lobe-dominated Broad-Line Sources. I. The Discovery of a Hard X-ray Component

We present new BeppoSAX LECS, MECS and PDS observations of five lobedominated, broad-line active galactic nuclei selected from the 2-Jy sample of southern radio sources. These include three radio quasars and two broad-line radio galaxies. ROSAT PSPC data, available for all the objects, are also used to better constrain the spectral shape in the soft X-ray band. The collected data cover the ener...

The BeppoSAX 1 - 8 keV cosmic background spectrum

The spectrum of the 1.0–8.0 keV cosmic X-ray background (CXB) at galactic latitudes >|25| has been measured using the BeppoSAX LECS and MECS instruments. The spectrum is consistent with a power-law of photon index 1.40±0.04 and normalization 11.7±0.5 photon cm s keV sr at 1 keV. Our results are in good agreement with previous ROSAT PSPC (Georgantopuolos et al. 1996), ASCA GIS (Miyaji et al. 199...
